Apple has announced its latest gadget: Apple AirTag, an iPhone accessory that will help owners quickly find essential things like keys or wallets through its unique location system. Available only in select stores starting Friday, April 30th.

Apple today unveiled AirTag, a small and elegantly designed accessory that helps keep track of and find the items that matter most with Apple’s Find My app. 

Whether attached to a handbag, keys, backpack, or other things, this device taps into the vast global network through which users can locate lost articles while keeping location data private and anonymous thanks to end-to-end encryption. These sleek-looking gadgets are available in one pack for $29 and four packs at just 99 bucks each. Available Friday, April 30th

How to use Apple AirTag in Find My app

AirTag can be set up to show in the “Items” tab of the Find My app, where users have an option to view its current or last known location on a map. If they misplace their items and it is within Bluetooth range, then using the Find My app will help them locate it by playing sound from the Airtag if close enough. They can also ask Siri for assistance that ultimately relies on whether Air Tag emits any noise nearby.

AirTag can be found with the help of a smartphone using cutting-edge technology. The AirTags are equipped with the Apple-designed U1 chip, which uses Ultra-Wideband Technology, enabling Precision Finding for iPhone 11 and 12 users. This advanced technology can determine distance and direction to lost AirTags when in range better than ever before by combining input from the camera, ARKit, accelerometer, and gyroscope systems that work together seamlessly as you move around your space while searching for them.

You can place the AirTag into Lost Mode and be notified when the AirTag is in range or located in the network. If a lost AirTag is found by someone else, they can tap it using the iPhone or NFC device, and they will be taken to the website that will display your phone number if you set it up.

AirTag was built to help the visually impaired navigate around their home with ease. With features like Precision Finding, AirTags can direct those who are blind or low-vision to them by providing directions such as “AirTag is 9 feet away on your left”.

Apple AirTag Privacy and Security Built In

AirTag is the “what you’re looking for” item that will keep your location data private and secure. No personal information or geolocation history is stored on Airtag, as it’s end-to-end encrypted, which only means you have access to its whereabouts. The Find My network can’t see where Apple finds any device you use because of this!

AirTag is designed with a set of proactive features to discourage unwanted tracking. Bluetooth signal identifiers transmitted by AirTag frequently rotate, preventing the user from being tracked on location. iOS devices can also detect an unknown Airtag that isn’t with its owner and notify the user if it sees them traveling together over time-a a first for any product in this industry!
